Q: |
Is the 1969 Camaro SS-X a restored Camaro or a brand new vehicle? |
A: |
Aside from a handful of parts, which are only available as quality used parts, the 1969 BKPE Carmao SS-X is a brand new automobile. It is partly for this reason, and partly because of the quality of our builds, that we can offer the only bumper-to-bumper warranty in the business. |

|
Q: |
Why do you use replacement bodies instead of original 1969 Camaro bodies? |
A: |
Simply put, it is cost, time and quality. Original 1969 Camaro bodies are approaching 40 years old, which means four decades of fatigue, corrosion and abuse. To restore such a body is time consuming and expensive, needlessly delaying delivery of our vehicles to our customers and increasing the price of our product. In addition, replacement bodies are made with modern techniques and quality controls. Comparing an original body to a replacement body makes it clear that the replacement body offers a superior platform from which we build all of our Camaros. |

Q: |
Can I order my SS-X in colors other than what was originally available in 1969? |
A: |
Unfortunately, no. In the SS-X, we set out to recreate a Camaro that was identical to the original on the inside and out. This necessarily means that we are limited in our color pallet. |

Q: |
How about ordering an SS-X model with a ZL-1 trim package? |
A: |
We do not offer a ZL-1 trim package for the sole reason that the vehicle would be terribly plain in its appearance. When Chevrolet originally approved the production of the ZL-1 package, they passed the cost of research and development on to the dealers. This resulted in an extremely expensive vehicle that was ordered with few additional options, especially appearance options. Nevertheless, if you are interested in such a package, we encourage you to contact our sales department to make inquiry. |

Q: |
If originality was a criterion in designing the SS-X, why do you offer it with 16" wheels when this was not offered in 1969? |
A: |
To be sure, the 1969 Camaro was only equipped with either 14 or 15 inch wheels, no matter which of the many wheel options were chosen. This caused us much consternation over what wheels and tires we would offer. In the end, we choose the bigger wheels due to the unavailability of performance tires that matched the smaller diameter wheel and the high performance of our power train. |

Q: |
Where do you put the entertainment system if you are installing an original AM/FM stero radio in the dash? |
A: |
The Sony Xplode receiver goes into the glove box, the kick panel speakers remain in the kick panels behind original grills, the subwoofer is hidden in the trunk and the rear speakers and amplifier are cleverly hidden below the rear shelf. |

Q: |
Can I get the RPO ZL2 special ducted or “cowl induction” hood with the SS or SS/RS trim package? |
A: |
Yes, though we do not offer it as a standard option. In our opinion, the SS hood is an extremely attractive feature of the SS or SS/RS trim packages, especially given the use of the RPO D90 “Hockey Stick” Stripes. However, we acknowledge that some of our customers may disagree and desire the RPO ZL2 cowl induction hood. Please contact our sales department to make further inquiry. |
