1969 BKPE ARCHETYPE CAMARO Z/28 FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Q:

Why do you restore a 1969 Camaro body instead of using new one?

A:

Cost. When we designed our Archetype Camaro Z/28 packages, affordability was a primary concern. Due to their wide availability, it is still possible to pick up a complete 1969 Camaro that remains in good shape. This not only allows us to have good bodies that are much cheaper than their new counterparts, but to have as an added bonus most of the parts necessary to build the restored vehicle. Using original vehicles saves us tens of thousands of dollars in the cost of producing this iconic Camaro, allowing us to pass these savings on to our customers.

Q:

Does this restoration have the same build quality as your new vehicle builds?

A:

Absolutely. We only choose the finest original bodies on the market and then insure that any suspect metal, which is exposed during an acid bath, is replaced with the finest restoration metal on the market. We stake our reputation on our Camaro bodies being better than those that left Chevrolet some 45+ years ago. But more than that, we guarantee them with the only bumper-to-bumper warranty in the business.

Q:

Can I order my Archetype Z/28 in colors other than what was originally available in 1969?

A:

Unfortunately, no. In the Archetype, we set out to recreate a Camaro that was identical to the original through and through. This necessarily means that we are limited in our color pallet.

Q:

May I have you modify the Archetype Z/28 beyond its BKPE specifications?

A:

While we do offer 34 options to equip your Archetype Z/28 as you see fit, we do not allow our customers to further modify the vehicle as that would defeat the purpose of producing a replica vehicle. However, if you desire a vehicle that is faithful on the outside and inside to the original, but has more performance, we encourage you to check out the 1969 BKPE Camaro Xtreme.

Q:

Are there any differences between a factory Z/28 and the Archetype Z/28?

A:

Yes, in two significant respects. It would be impossible to recreate all of the part number stampings and date codes that would be found on the parts of a factory Z/28. Thus, to a professional authenticator, there will be slight cosmetic differences that will distinguish the BKPE vehicle from its factory counterpart.

In addition, we did not concern ourselves with copying the original when it came to parts that would not be visible to the client. Thus, for example, we use Electric-Life power window motors instead of OE motors as they are hidden behind the door panels and are more reliable. For another example, the engine internals for the 302 are unseen and thus not necessarily identical to their factory counterparts. However, in all cases where we used non-OE-style parts, we used higher quality parts than the factory parts.

Q:

Can I get you to build me an Archetype Z/28 based on either a 1967 or 1968 Camaro?

A:

Absolutely, though there may be an additional charge for the research and development necessary to build such a vehicle. Simply let your PSR know during your initial telephone conversation that you wish to order either a 1967 or 1968 Camaro as the foundation for your Archetype Z/28.
