1969 BKPE CAMARO XTREME FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Q:

Is the 1969 Camaro Xtreme a restored Camaro or a brand new vehicle?

A:

Aside from a handful of parts, which are only available as quality used parts, the 1969 BKPE Camaro Xtreme is a brand new automobile. It is partly for this reason, and partly because of the quality of our builds, that we can offer the only bumper-to-bumper warranty in the business.

Q:

Why do you use replacement bodies instead of original 1969 Camaro bodies?

A:

Simply put, it is cost, time and quality. Original 1969 Camaro bodies are over 40 years old, which means four decades of fatigue, corrosion and abuse. To restore such a body is time consuming and expensive, needlessly delaying delivery of our vehicles to our customers and increasing the price of our product. In addition, replacement bodies are made with modern techniques and quality controls. Comparing an original body to a replacement body makes it clear that the replacement body offers a superior platform from which we build all of our Camaros.

Q:

Can I order my Xtreme in colors other than what was originally available in 1969?

A:

Unfortunately, no. In the Xtreme, we set out to recreate a Camaro that was identical to the original on the inside and out. This necessarily means that we are limited in our color pallet.

Q:

If originality was a criterion in designing the Xtreme, why do you offer it with 16" wheels when this was not offered in 1969?

A:

To be sure, the 1969 Camaro was only equipped with either 14 or 15 inch wheels, no matter which of the many wheel options were chosen. This caused us much consternation over what wheels and tires we would offer. In the end, we chose the bigger wheels due to the unavailability of performance tires that matched the smaller diameter wheel and the high performance of our power train.

We note that, unlike the original wheels, which had a chrome colored trim ring around the outer lip of the wheel to enhance the beauty of the wheel, the wheels we have chosen have had the outer lip itself chromed. Thus this wheel differs significantly from its factory counterpart.

Q:

Why do you not provide an entertainment system as standard equipment?

A:

Original AM/FM stereo receivers are rare and expensive. Thus, we wanted to give our clients the opportunity to choose an original looking system or put that same money toward the hidden entertainment system by Sony.

Q:

Where do you put the Sony hidden entertainment system?

A:

The Sony Xplode receiver goes into the glove box, the 2-way speakers are mounted under the dash, the subwoofer is hidden in the trunk and the rear speakers and amplifier are cleverly hidden below the rear package shelf.

Q:

Can I get the RPO ZL2 special ducted or “cowl induction” hood with the SS or SS/RS trim package?

A:

Yes, though we do not offer it as a standard option. In our opinion, the SS hood is an extremely attractive feature of the SS or SS/RS trim packages, especially given the use of the RPO D90 “Hockey Stick” Stripes. However, we acknowledge that some of our customers may disagree and desire the RPO ZL2 cowl induction hood. Please note that because the intake is on the front of the engine on the LS3 as opposed to the top on the small or big block Chevy engines, the hood does not function. Please contact our sales department to make further inquiry.

Q:

Can I get you to build me a Xtreme Camaro based on either a 1967 or 1968 Camaro?

A:

Absolutely, though pricing would have to be determined at a time immediately prior to the sale. Simply let your PSR know during your initial telephone conversation that you wish to order either a 1967 or 1968 Camaro as the foundation for your Xtreme.

Q:

My preference has always been for the Pontiac Firebird instead of the Camaro. Can I get BKPE to build me a Firebird like these Camaros?

A:

Absolutely. Anticipating that some of our customers may prefer the Firebird to the Camaro, we have created an entire line of performance Firebirds just for them. We invite you to find out all about them by Clicking Here.
