1970 BKPE CHALLENGER XTREME FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Q:

Is the 1970 Challenger Xtreme a restored Challenger or a brand new vehicle?

A:

Aside from a handful of parts, which are only available as quality used parts, the 1970 BKPE Challenger Xtreme is a brand new automobile. It is partly for this reason, and partly because of the quality of our builds, that we can offer the only bumper-to-bumper warranty in the business.

Q:

Why do you use replacement bodies instead of original 1970 Challenger bodies?

A:

Simply put, it is cost, time and quality. Original 1970 Challenger bodies are over 40 years old, which means four decades of fatigue, corrosion and abuse. To restore such a body is time consuming and expensive, needlessly delaying delivery of our vehicles to our customers and increasing the price of our product. In addition, replacement bodies are made with modern techniques and quality controls. Comparing an original body to a replacement body makes it clear that the replacement body offers a superior platform from which we build all of our Challengers.

Q:

Can I order my Xtreme in colors other than what was originally available in 1970?

A:

Unfortunately, no. In the Xtreme, we set out to recreate a Challenger that was identical to the original on the inside and out. This necessarily means that we are limited in our color pallet.

Q:

If originality was a criterion in designing the Xtreme, why do you offer it with larger-than-stock wheels and non-original tires?

A:

To be sure, the 1970 Challenger was only equipped with 15x7 inch wheels and 210mm wide tires. This caused us much consternation over what wheels and tires we would offer. In the end, we choose the bigger wheels and wider tires due to the unavailability of performance tires that matched the smaller diameter wheel and the high performance of our power train.

Q:

Why do you not provide an entertainment system as standard equipment?

A:

Original AM/FM stereo receivers are rare and expensive. Thus, we wanted to give our clients the opportunity to choose an original looking system or put that same money toward the hidden entertainment system by Sony.

Q:

Where do you put the Sony hidden entertainment system?

A:

The Sony Xplode receiver goes into the glove box, the 2-way speakers are mounted under the dash, the subwoofer is hidden in the trunk and the rear speakers and amplifier are cleverly hidden below the rear package shelf.

Q:

Can I order my Challenger Xtreme in a convertible body style?

A:

At the present time, no one is manufacturing a convertible restoration body. Therefore, if you wished to buy one, it would be necessary to find an original body and restore it to our high quality standards, which would carry a significant premium in price over the coupe body style. However, doing such work is well within our capabilities and we will gladly consider it for the customer desiring a convertible body style. Simply let your PSR know during your initial telephone conversation that you wish to order a convertible body style as the foundation for your Xtreme.

Q:

Can I get you to build me an Xtreme based on a 1971, 1972, 1973 or 1974 Challenger?

A:

Absolutely, though pricing would have to be determined at a time immediately prior to the sale. Simply let your PSR know during your initial telephone conversation that you wish to order either a different year Challenger as the foundation for your Xtreme.

Q:

My preference has always been for the Plymouth Cuda instead of the Challenger. Can I get BKPE to build me a Cuda like these Challengers?

A:

Absolutely, yes! However, the Cuda was significantly different than the Challenger, which is to say we cannot use the Challenger’s restoration body. Therefore, to build a Cuda Xtreme, we will have to restore an original Cuda at a much greater expense. If this option is something you would like to explore, simply let your PSR know during your initial telephone conversation that you wish to order a Cuda Xtreme.
