1957 BKPE BEL AIR ESTATE-STAGE I FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Q:

Is the 1957 Chevy Bel Air Estate a restored Bel Air or a brand new vehicle?

A:

Aside from a handful of parts, which are only available as quality used parts, the 1957 BKPE Bel Air Estate-State I is a brand new automobile. It is partly for this reason, and partly because of the quality of our builds, that we can offer the only bumper-to-bumper warranty in the business.

Q:

Why do you use replacement bodies instead of original 1957 Bel Air bodies?

A:

Simply put, it is cost, time and quality. Original 1957 Chevy bodies are over 55 years old, which means five plus decades of fatigue, corrosion and abuse. To restore such a body is time consuming and expensive, needlessly delaying delivery of our vehicles to our customers and increasing the price of our product. In addition, replacement bodies are made with modern techniques and quality controls. Comparing an original body to a replacement body makes it clear that the replacement body offers a superior platform from which we build all of our Bel Airs.

Q:

Can I order my Estate-Stage I in colors other than what was originally available in 1957?

A:

Unfortunately, no. In the Estate-Stage I, we set out to recreate a Bel-Air that was identical to the original on the inside and out. This necessarily means that we are limited in our color pallet.

Q:

If originality was a criterion in designing the Estate-Stage I, why do you offer it with 17" wheels when this was not offered in 1957?

A:

To be sure, the original 1957 Bel Air was not equipped with 17” wheels. This caused us much consternation over what wheels and tires we would offer. In the end, we chose the bigger wheels due to the unavailability of performance tires that matched the smaller diameter wheel and the high performance of our powertrain.

Q:

Why do you not provide an entertainment system as standard equipment?

A:

Original AM/FM stereo receivers are rare and expensive. Thus, we wanted to give our clients the opportunity to choose an original looking system or put that same money toward the hidden entertainment system by Sony.

Q:

Where do you put the Sony hidden entertainment system?

A:

The Sony Xplode receiver goes in the glovebox, the 2-way speakers are mounted under the dash, the subwoofer is hidden in the trunk and the rear speakers and amplifier are cleverly hidden below the rear package shelf.

Q:

Can I get you to build me an Estate-Stage I based on either a 1955 or 1956 Chevy?

A:

Absolutely, though pricing would have to be determined at a time immediately prior to the sale. Simply let your PSR know during your initial telephone conversation that you wish to order either a 1955 or 1956 Chevy as the foundation for your Estate-Stage I.

Q:

Along these same lines, can I get you to build me an Estate-Stage I in a body style other than those offered here?

A:

Yes, we would be glad to build you a four-door or Nomad version of the Estate-Stage I. However, reproduction bodies are not available for these body styles, which is to say we would have to find and then restore an original body. While we are willing to do it, the additional cost would be substantial. Nevertheless, if this is something you would like to pursue, simply let your PSR know during your initial telephone conversation.
