C1 BKPE CORVETTE SCIMITAR-STAGE I FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Q:

Is the C1 Corvette Scimitar a restored Corvette or a brand new vehicle?

A:

Aside from a handful of parts, which are only available as quality used parts, the C1 BKPE Corvette Scimitar-Stage I is a brand new automobile. It is partly for this reason, and partly because of the quality of our builds, that we can offer the only bumper-to-bumper warranty in the business.

Q:

Why do you use replacement bodies instead of original C1 Corvette bodies?

A:

Simply put, it is cost, time and quality. Original C1 Corvette bodies are over 50 years old, which means five decades of fatigue, corrosion and abuse. To restore such a body is time consuming and expensive, needlessly delaying delivery of our vehicles to our customers and increasing the price of our product. In addition, replacement bodies are made exactly like the originals, but with modern techniques and quality controls. Comparing an original body to a replacement body makes it clear that the replacement body offers a superior platform from which we build all of our Corvettes.

Q:

Can I order my Scimitar-Stage I in colors other than what was originally available on the C1?

A:

Unfortunately, no. In the Scimitar-Stage I we set out to recreate a Corvette that was identical to the original on the inside and out. This necessarily means that we are limited in our color pallet.

Q:

If creating a Corvette identical to the original was a criterion for the design of the Scimitar-Stage I, why do you offer a 3-point retractable seat belt as an option?

A:

Safety. Shoulder belts were not available on the factory C1 Corvette. Thus, even if you are securely wearing an original-style lap-belt, any collision carries with it the risk of impacting the steering wheel, the dash, the windshield or even ejectment from the vehicle. We find this to be too great a risk to the safety of our clients. Therefore, we wanted to offer our clients a choice to accept the risk of the limited safety offered by only the lap-belt or to order a 3-point safety belt.

Q:

Can I get my Corvette Scimitar with a 572 CID Chevy Big Block?

A:

Unfortunately, no. To keep the Scimitar as close to original as possible, we are using reproduction 15x7” steel wheels, which allows for a maximum tire width of 235mm. We believe this is patently insufficient for a high-horsepower, big block engine such as the 572 CID crate motor. However, if you desire more power out of your C1 Corvette, we highly encourage you to check out of Stage II and Super Scimitar C1 Corvette variants.
